Ta Som

A small, but photogenic temple, with one of its towers overtaken by a sacred fig tree. Built at the end of the 12th-century for King Jayavarman VII it was dedicated to his father. Ta Som is surrounded by a moat and enclosed by three laterite walls which are broken by two cross-shaped entrances. It has both the numerous heads like Bayon and that overgrown feeling of Ta Prohm. If you go out of the back of the Ta Som temple you will find some souvenir stalls. Past them is an impressive gate with a large head watching from the top. Look at it from the other side and you see another beautiful overgrown entrance, but one with fewer tourists than Ta Prohm so its a great photo opportunity.
